December Holiday Happenings Hit Intown Atlanta!

So much to do; so little time!  That’s why we do the research for you.  Here’s a list of some great holiday activities happening around Atlanta over the next few weeks.  All the events below are family-friendly – after all, family is what the holidays are all about!

Christmas on Peachtree– If this event doesn’t get you in the holiday spirit, we don’t know what will.  Christmas on Peachtree is the largest indoor Christmas festival in the Southeast.  The event includes a music and light show, a kids’ play area, and of course tons of holiday food and shopping.   Plus, Santa will be there for photos in case you can’t make it to Highland Bakery on Dec. 10.   The event takes place at 200 Peachtree and runs through Dec. 24.

Underground Atlanta is hosting several holiday events including photos with Santa, performances by area musicians and church choirs, a Toys for Tots drive, and Breakfast with Santa!  Dates for each of the events vary, so check out the website for all the details.

The Georgia Aquarium is getting in to the holiday spirit with its Festival of the SEAson.  Get a family photo at Santa’s Holiday Bay, watch SCUBA Claus swim with the sharks and rays, and enjoy carolers as you explore the aquarium.  Get all the details here.

Garden Lights, Holiday Nights– As if the Atlanta Botanical Gardens weren’t already beautiful enough, wait ‘till you see them lit up by one million lights!  Finish off the incredible nighttime walking tour and show with s’mores at the fire pits.

Teach your kids about the joy of giving and treat them to some baseball fun at the same time.   Through the end of December, children under 14 who bring a new, unwrapped toy, will receive free admission to the Braves Museum & Hall of Fame including at tour of Turner Field.

And the holiday season isn’t complete without a holiday show!   Here are four you can choose from:

·         The Best Christmas Pageant Ever through Jan. 1 at Balzer Theater at Herren’s

·         A Christmas Carol at Alliance Theatre at the Woodruff through Dec. 24

·         Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at the Center for Puppetry Arts through Dec. 31

·         Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker at the Fox Theater through Dec. 24

All these activities are sure to make you hungry – and on a cold, winter day, there’s nothing like hot, delicious Mexican food brought to you by Caramba Café’s Prieto family.   While you’re downtown, swing by their Pencil Factory location for a visit - you’ll feel right at home.

Happy holidays from ATLIntownLiving!
