Demographic-expansion work
As you may know, this Sunday, March 20 is the Publix Georgia Marathon and Half Marathon. If St. Paddy's debauchery didn't completely destroy you, we hope you can come out and run or support the runners who do.
If you'd like to devote your weekend to health and fitness, start by heading down to the Georgia Dome Friday or Saturday to check out the marathon's official health and fitness expo, with its approximately hundred exhibitors, and learn about the products that can help you look and feel your best. You can also pick up your registration packet or even register up to the last minute at this event. Hours and info are located on the website.
Then, Sunday morning it's up bright and early to start running at 7 AM. The finish line closes at 2 PM, but if you're looking to win an award, the awards for the half-marathon are at 8:45 and the marathon at 10:30. Both events start and finish downtown in Centennial Olympic Park, and cut through most of intown Atlanta.
If you're not a runner, though, there's still a way for you to participate. The organizers ask that communities get together and form Cheering Zones along the route. The best Cheering Zone will be voted on by the runners and the winners will receive a grant toward neighborhood fitness. Edgewood & Randolph is the HQ for the Old Fourth Ward Cheering Zone, so come on down and help us win some bucks!
Take advantage of this awesome weather and get moving and cheering in your neighborhood! And let us know if you'll be running!
