Golly, is Creative Loafing reading this blog?
Yesterday their article Ready For Our Close-Up touched on the boom in the film and TV industry in Atlanta that I had discussed just the day before. I suppose it's just another sign that business is booming!
Speaking of business, there are a few developments coming downtown that will make the heart of the city even more fun for tourists and locals alike.
If the World of Coca-Cola, the Georgia Aquarium, and the CNN Center weren't enough for tourists to our fair city, rumor is that Ripley's Believe It Or Not! is looking at spaces in downtown Atlanta to possibly open up a museum. Not just speculation, this was reported in the Atlanta Business Chronicle, which also mentioned a rival company, Merlin Entertainment (developers of attractions including Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum) is also considering downtown Atlanta for development. Regardless, we'll have a couple more places to bring out-of-town friends and family when they come to town.
Additionally, the Ruth's Chris Steak House at Centennial Olympic Park has announced the addition of 1,500 square feet of private dining to its Embassy Suites location. This space will host up to 100 patrons and allow meetings of considerable size under the gloss of the Ruth's Chris banner. Construction is set to begin in December of 2010.
But this is all in the future. How about now? Well, we're pleased to see that an ice skating rink is set to open in late November at 500 10th Street under Park Tavern’s Garden Tent next to Piedmont Park. The Rink is set to offer amenities for all weather, with glycol piped underneath to keep the rink frozen on warm days, so you can skate at any time and and dine rink-side at the Tavern. Fun and super-romantic!
Things just keep getting better intown!
