Move Over Black Friday, Here Comes Small Business Saturday!
Welcome to Thanksgiving week! Just a few work days to get through before we can all enjoy some cooking, eating, lounging and, of course, SHOPPING!
Traditionally, the Friday after Thanksgiving, known as Black Friday, is the day families head to the mall or big box retailers to begin their holiday shopping. This year, however, we at ATL Intown Living want to make sure you know about Small Business Saturday, a day dedicated to supporting small, local businesses during the holiday shopping season. We LOVE this idea!
American Express started Small Business Saturday in 2010 in an effort to encourage holiday shoppers to patronize their local, independently-owned businesses. This year, to further incentivize shoppers to shop local, American Express is offering its card holders a $25 statement credit when you register your eligible American Express card online and use that card on Saturday, November 26, to make a purchase of $25 or more at a qualifying small business! It’s like a free $25!
To see a sample list of the Intown Atlanta businesses that qualify for the $25 statement credit, you can visit the Small BusinessSaturday Facebook page, enter the zip code for your neighborhood shopping area and voila! You’ll see a list of participating stores, restaurants, service providers and entertainment venues just like that. You can also call a toll-free number to check on a business you have in mind before heading out the door. And there’s a great FAQ for other questions you might have as well.
