• Local photographer David Barrack just wrote a post for his blog about the custom artwork he put together for the office and common areas of the Pencil Factory. His composite artwork is very striking, so to be able to use it on the property has been a big point of pride for the folks at PF, making it feel like "more than just another place to live." Some of the residents have even ordered reprints to display in their own apartments! In the entry, Barrack discusses how he put together the picture shown:
• After shooting is done a composite image is made by overlaying the pencil with the skyline shot, then some techniques are used to meld the pencil over the structure of the Westin Hotel to provide shape and depth.  The image needed to be about 4 feet wide and 3 feet high, and printed on fine art canvas, so the image is adjusted to ensure the color and textured appear as desired and no imperfections were introduced when enlarging the image.  Lastly the image is printed on a special fine art canvas using a large format fine art printer with archival ink, then the image gets 3 layers of an archival “laquer” for protection, and after a day of drying the canvas is gallery wrapped over wooden stretcher bars.  That’s it!

The doctor will be offering Botox at $8 per unit on Monday, January 31, beginning at 7 PM. Attendees should RSVP to Melange, and a $50 deposit is required to hold your spot.
