News from around Downtown Atlanta

Ahhhhh, the rain is washing the pollen out of the air, and we're breathing better at ATL Intown Living. And now, the news from around downtown Atlanta:

  • At long last, the much-awaited Beignet Connection opened up last week at the Pencil Factory Flats & Shops. The restaurant will be serving up authentic New Orleans Creole cuisine, covering everything from gumbo, etouffee, and bisque to jambalaya, po-boys, and red beans and rice, as well as the eponymous beignets, both sweet and savory. Yes, you can now get proper Creole food in Atlanta. Become a fan on Facebook. Read the glowing review of Beignet Connection on Creative Loafing. Oh, and expect a review from us soon.
  • Pretty cool stuff: a new garden was unveiled last week in downtown Atlanta in order to grow food for the homeless and recovering men at the Atlanta Mission. The garden was established on vacant land near Centennial Olympic Park and will be a boon to the volunteer community in the city.
  • Nice work cheering during the Georgia Marathon, guys! The Old Fourth Ward Cheering Zone won $1,500.00 to put toward neighborhood fitness initiatives. We're so proud. On what do you think the money should be spent?
