News Roundup
Once again we provide a round-up of the biggest news and events happening around downtown Atlanta, Grant Park, the Old Fourth Ward, Inman Park, Candler Park, Reynoldstown, Cabbagetown, Sweet Auburn, Edgewood, and the rest of intown:
- We know, we know...much like the rest of Atlanta, we're obsessed with food trucks. Thanks to the great folks at the Atlanta Street Food Coalition, many of the most popular street food vendors in town will begin offering their wares at Underground Atlanta on Wednesdays beginning July 6 from 11 AM to 2 PM. The trucks will situate themselves on Upper Alabama Street and will include King of Pops, Yumbii, Westside Creamery, Sweet Auburn BBQ, and more.
- City Hall East has officially been sold. The Old Fourth Ward monolith has changed hands from the city to a property development firm looking to turn the building into a live/work space that transforms the Poncey-Highlands and Old Fourth Ward. What changes are in store have yet to be discovered, but regardless, this is a huge step for the city and a neighborhood that has been in need of a big change. We look forward to seeing what happens!
- Check out this great 11Alive video spotlight on Inman Perk, the independent coffee shop located in the North Highland Steel building in Inman Park. You want community and good coffee? We got your community right here!
- I guess they "like" us...Facebook is establishing a 5,000+ square foot office in West Midtown. They also plan to hire locally for any new positions needed due to the expansion. No news about any visits by Zuckerberg, but I'm sure we'll all charm the pants off of him if he does come by Atlanta.
- The Wrecking Bar Brewpub has finally opened in Little Five Points. Dangerous and tasty...
