Quick and Dirty: Everybody Loves Street Food!

Well, it seems to be cooling down again in Atlanta, but it looks like the sunny and gorgeous days we've been experiencing will be back soon enough. To go along with this rebirth of springtime, on March 12 the first Urban Picnic of 2011 will go down at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, in the heart of the historic Old Fourth Ward.

Are you a fan of Atlanta's nascent food truck/street food culture? Were you completely annoyed by the red tape of last month's street food busts on Highland? Well, you're in luck! The downtown Urban Picnic will allow you to sample all sorts of exciting new culinary treats from these vendors, in a set-up begun last year and loved by many.

Between six and ten food trucks and street food vendors will be part of the Urban Picnic. Some of the options: Westsifoodies from around the city. So get your red-and-white-checked tablecloths ready...it's pde Creamery, offering artisanal ice creams and sorbets made from local ingredients, the Good Food Truck, purveyors of the ridiculously delicious Poodle hotdog served on a French toast bun, topped with apple maple slaw, spicy mustard, and maple syrup, Blue Tailed Lizard, a new vendors offering numerous flavors of tamales, Ciao Boca doing meatball sliders, and the cult favorite Yumbii serving Korean BBQ tacos and other fusion treats.

The Urban Picnic brings a great crowd to the Sweet Auburn Curb Market: a mix of both committed locals and icnic time!
