Sign up for the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside 10K
If you eat a little too much pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving dinner, we’ve got the perfect opportunity for you to burn it off – and get an up-close and personal view of the future Atlanta BeltLine at the same time.
The Atlanta BeltLine Eastside 10K, which takes place Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., is a run/walk showcasing undeveloped portions of the Atlanta BeltLine along Piedmont Park, the new Historic Fourth Ward Park and Skatepark, Freedom Park, and the neighborhoods along the Eastside Trail. This is the third and final race for 2011 in the Atlanta BeltLine Running Series.
This event is much more than a race.
Since the Atlanta Beltline Eastside 10K coincides with college football’s “Championship Saturday,” the race will include a “Tailgate Challenge.” What is the Tailgate Challenge you might ask? Well, it’s pretty much a chance for you and your fellow college alumni to show off your school spirit to all of Atlanta while running through the city. We’re talking school colors, face painting, signs, sideline supporters, pet sweaters – whatever you’ve got.
And as this is a Tailgate Challenge, there are of course prizes to be had for the alumni associations that show the most enthusiasm as well as the school that participates with the most runners. The top 2-3 alumni associations will win either cash or a happy hour at a top Atlanta restaurant! Make sure to register your alumni association and indicate your school when you register to run.
If college football isn’t your thing, fear not. After the race, there will be free beer, free food, raffles, music and live entertainment for all to enjoy.
And most importantly, proceeds from the race support the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, a non-profit organization created to raise funds for and bring awareness to the Atlanta BeltLine project. If you don’t know much about the Atlanta BeltLine project, take a look at the Atlanta BeltLine Basics page on their website. In short, it’s going to shape Atlanta’s future and we at ATLIntownLiving couldn’t be more excited about it.
Sponsors for the race include:
Coca-Cola
Silverton Mortgage Specialists, Inc.
