So long 2011, here comes 2012

Christmas has come and gone, and we’re now in the homestretch to the new year.   If you’re lucky, you have a day or two off from work to relax, spend time with family and friends and get ready for 2012.   The beginning of a new year provides a great opportunity for a fresh start on a variety of things.  Here are some ideas to help you start the year off right.

  • Clean house.  When’s the last time you took inventory in that closet of yours?  Do you really think you are going to wear those jeans from high school?   Cleaning out your closet can be a pain for sure, but you’ll feel great when you’re done – and have lots of room for the new clothes you got for Christmas and Hanukkah!   Donate the items you no longer need to a worthy organization and you’ll feel even better.
  • Speaking of donations, the end of the year is a great time to provide monetary assistance to an organization that is close to your heart.  If you’re able to display such generosity, be sure to keep a receipt so you can deduct the donation on your upcoming taxes.
  • Prep your 2012 calendar.  Whether it’s online or on paper, make a pledge to be more organized in 2012.  Record birthdays, anniversaries and other special events so you never again forget to make that phone call!
  • Assess your health.  When is the last time you had a physical?   If your answer is more than a year ago, it’s time to make an appointment.   Atlanta offers outstanding medical care, so ask your friends to recommend a doctor to suit your needs and go check in on your health.  Intown Optometrist, Dr. Jay Chretien at the In Focus Eye Center in the N. Highland Steel neighborhood can give you a quick and painless eye health evaluation to make sure all is well with your vision and eye health.   And if your kids need to have their chompers checked, you can head right down the street to the Inman Park Kids Dental Spot for a check-up with Dr. Sakita Brown.

Let’s do this, 2012.
