This Weekend: the 2011 Reynoldstown Wheelbarrow Festival
This Saturday, September 10, from 11 AM to 11 PM, the 16th Annual Wheelbarrow Festival goes down at Lang-Carson Park in the heart of intown Atlanta's historic Reynoldstown, located just south of the junction at Flat Shoals and Wylie. The festival was founded both to celebrate this sometimes-overlooked section of Atlanta, as well as the power of the arts to unite a community.
Festivities include:
- A 5k wheelbarrow race, beginning at 8 AM in front of Park Grounds. The usual festival standard 5k, except this time it's in a wheelbarrow. Too. Much. Fun! (Wheelbarrows provided).
- A health fair, offering free screenings for many problems.
- An artists' market sponsored by AM 1690.
- A silent auction held at Trees Atlanta, to benefit the Reynoldstown Civic Improvement League.
- Live music, with a full schedule available here! Bands include the Atlanta Funk Society, Noot d'Noot, and Col. Bruce Hampton with Grant Green, Jr.
Plus plenty of kids activities, BBQ, and your favorite food trucks. Become a fan of the festival on Facebook, and get your wheelbarrow racing game on.
