Volunteers Still Needed for Hosea Feed the Hungry Christmas Dinner!

For almost 40 years, Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless has been serving food to those Atlantans who need it most, with everything from senior citizen meal delivery to housing placement assistance for the newly homeless. But perhaps most famously, each year, the organization serves more than 60 thousand homeless and hungry people Christmas dinner at Turner Field in a breathtaking example of mass charity.

This year, a computer glitch made it seem like enough volunteers had signed up to fill the much-needed slots to pull off this year's dinner. It took a week for someone to notice the problem, and now with the event just days away, there are still many spots needing to be filled. The event begins at 10 am and doesn't end until all those present have been fed, but there are many shifts available for those who want to help.

Volunteers are still needed for Christmas Eve food preparation assistance and for various jobs running in shifts from 7 am to 7 pm. It's easy to find a volunteer position that's right for you or your family by going to the Hosea volunteer site, where you can sign up to volunteer easily and quickly online.

Since its founding in 1971, HFTH has distributed more than $3.0 billion in food, clothing, medical assistance, toiletries, furniture, and cleaning supplies to 16 Georgia counties, three states, and to the Philippines, the Ivory Coast, Haiti, and Uganda. Remarkably, the organization maintains an average administrative overhead of 14 percent, ensuring that 86 percent of all donations go toward the needy.

Help make a difference for your fellow ITPers this holiday, and sign up today to make a world of good for those who need it most!
