Yep, it’s time for 420 Fest.

It's April. It's Atlanta. The sun is shining, the music's playing, and the beer is flowing. Yep, it's time for 420 Fest.

Atlanta's top boys of brewing, SweetWater Brewing Company, will be hosting 420 Fest, their annual music/comedy/beer/Earth Day festival this weekend, April 15-17 in Candler Park. Admission is free for live music, activities, food, and ecological education. The festival has been a blast in the past, and is sure to be a grand old time this weekend.

There's a live music stage running all weekend, and bands scheduled to play include Galactic, Railroad Earth, Arrested Development, 7 Walkers, Dead Confederate, Greensky Bluegrass, Rusted Root, and many more.

Additionally, Atlanta's own Relapse Theatre will host the Relapse 420 Comedy Tent, which will not only showcase stand-up comedians from around the south, but will also offer improv comedy classes for adults and kids. Of course, not all the comedy is kid-friendly, so keep an ear out for when to take the little ones aside.

The annual 5K race has already sold out, but if you still want to drink and move about vigorously, there's still a chance to join the Gas South Eco Challenge, a team-based obstacle course with prizes for the winningest and best dressed teams. Events include a sack race, dizzy bats, and a "keg slalom." Fun!

Of course, 420 Fest is hosted by SweetWater, so there will be plenty of all your favorite SweetWater beers, plus beginning at 2 PM on Sunday, you'll be able to sample five cask ales from SweetWater, including recreations of the top three judge's choices and the crowd favorite from the Brew Your Cask Off festival, plus a special cask from the head brewer. If you're 21+ with a valid ID, you can purchase a wristband allowing you to drink for $5.

Additionally, there will be plenty of food vendors and local artists selling their wares, and many of the proceeds will go to help support beautiful intown Candler Park. Just head east on DeKalb Avenue from the Pencil Factory, and a quick hop over to McClendon will get you there. See you Friday!
